WASHINGTON D.C.

What better way to end the school year than a trip to Washington D.C.!  Several of our students have worked the last two years to earn enough money to take an educational trip to Washington D.C.  Students were able to visit many of our nation’s capital landmarks.  They also worked with students from other school districts across the country learning about bill passage, government and so much more.

We wanted to take this moment to thank all the parents, staff, board members and community members and businesses that made this trip possible.  Without out your tax credit donations, donations of your time, food and effort, this trip would not have been possible.  A special thank you to these businesses who supported our trip:  Arizona G&T Cooperatives, Cochise Family Farms, Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative, Sunsites Community Association, Mustang Mall, Willcox Napa, Apache Hardware,

TAX CREDIT DONATIONS

Thank you to all the community members who donated this past year to the Pearce Elementary School District through the Arizona Tax Credit.  These donations help ensure field trips to various locations during the school year.  Students are able to attend Apple Annie’s Orchard, Phoenix Natural History Museum, Odysea Aquarium and many more.  Pearce Elementary School appreciates your support of our extracurricular programs!  As a reminder, these are a dollar for dollar credit to your Arizona taxes.  If you are interested in donating, please contact the school.  As always, please contact your tax professional regarding your particular tax situation.

SUPPORT & DONATIONS

The Pearce Elementary School District continues to receive donations and support from various sources.  We would like to thank Edie and her group for the help they provide to our families.  Thank you to the Pearce Lions Club for assisting our teachers in the classroom as well as their generous donation to help put books into the hands of our students!  And thank you to all the parents, family and friends who support our students during the school year.  From attending programs, to helping with homework, to volunteering at the school district, each moment of support is appreciated by our students and staff.

SUMMER READING

Summer is a crucial time and students can lose up to three months of reading gains during the summer.  Please help and encourage your child to read this summer.  Some tips to help your child with their summer reading:  1.  Make sure they have access to books.  It is critical that kids have access to a wide variety of books over the summer months.  2.  Books that match readers’ ability levels and interests.  For young people’s reading skills to improve, they need to read books that align with their own reading levels.  3.  Comprehension, as monitored and guided by an adult, teacher, or parent.  The most important piece to making summer reading effective is the help of an adult who can ask questions and guide kids to better understand what they are reading.  With these three ingredients, your summer reading program will soar!
